So that farms may qualify to supply poultry to our Primary Processing Plants, Sadia requires, by contract, the following of the procedures :
Through the Farmer’s Integration System, the farmers and their agricultural staff are trained in the correct procedures, monitored by veterinarians who visit and inspect the farm sites regularly. The veterinarians are responsible to check standards, to train all staff involved and specially, control poultry in every step of the process, from preparation, cleaning and disinfecting routines, until they reach the reception area in the primary plants.
As described in the Manual for the Animal Welfare for Poultry Growing Farms, the objective of the welfare program is to assure five freedom principles of animal welfare:
· Right to quench hunger and thirst; · Right for comfort; · Right to not suffer; · Right to express natural behavior; · Right to feel no anguish or fear.
